New Music and Video: Marina and the Diamonds' "Immortal"!

My beautiful Marina and her band of Diamonds has released the next serving from her upcoming album FROOT! The track is entitled "Immortals" and it is another slow one. But I absolutely love this one. She posted the lyrics yesterday and I was like "Oh this one is gonna be good." And sure enough it is. I mean, I freaking cried. The track is beautiful. And she looks flawless.

Is she releasing this on NYE as a way of the year dying and now it's just going to be a memory????? Sorry, it's way too early and I just felt like playing Sherlock Holmes.

If you wanna sing along, here are the lyrics straight from her Insta!

My Top 14 Songs of 2014!

Hey y'all! I know I've been super absent and flaky with this blog, but hey I'm trying! Being a teacher and a part time blogger is super difficult. On top of having 100 unfinished video games and just the energy drain of finishing a 7 hour work day. But one of my New Year's resolutions is to be better at updating this for all like 10 people that read it! Without further ado, let's get this list started:

14. "Leave Your Lover" - Sam Smith

I know some of you are thinking LOL WAT?! But yes, "Stay With Me" is a jam and was no doubt a a year end smash, but this is my list and this was my favorite song off his debut. It really showed off those chops and you know, it was hella relatable (;_____;). It's rare a gay artist isn't overshadowed by their sexuality, and I'm so glad we're not sleeping on Sam! He is a tremendous artist and I cannot wait to see him again in concert.

13. "Into the Blue" - Kylie Minogue

The official (in my eyes) queen of Australia released her album "Kiss Me Once" and my god was it amazing. The lead single "Into the Blue" was a brilliant first taste of the album and had me screaming "INTO THE BUHLOOOO" for months. Now, I need her to get state side so I can see her in concert. After her iTunes Festival performance, I am in dire need!

12. "Sorry You're Sick" - AM Taxi
Local Chicago band AM Taxi finally made their triumphant comeback with their EP "King of the Pond", and this cover of the Ted Hawkins' original was a major standout. I was lucky enough to see them perform it live and I haven't been able to stop returning to this song ever since.

11. "Bang Bang" - Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj

At first, I hated this song. It got the rep of being a "Lady Marmalade" copy cat. But then I was forced to listen to it enough that I have become OBSESSED. This is one of my go-to songs when I can't decide what I want to listen to. I just can't decide which part is just suited for me though??? Am I and Ari or a Nicki????

10. "Fancy" - Iggy Azealea (feat. Charli XCX)

I KNOW YOU GUYS. I should be careful talking about Igloo now with all her controversy with Azealia Banks. But this song no doubt was one of my favorites of 2014. We got to revisit Clueless and I spent countless car rides bumping this and screaming it out windows with various friends and family memebers. I'm also just happy Charli is getting recognized as an artist tbh.

9. "Shake It Off" - Taylor Swift

This is another song I didn't think I was going to like because back then it was "ew TS" ya know? But then I decided to click play on a whim because my mom was about to listen to it before me. God forbid. And of course, like the rest of the pop kids of the world, I fell in love with Taylor and and her new sound.

8. "Anaconda" - Nicki Minaj

LOL OKAY DON'T JUDGE ME! AGAIN, I hated this song when it first came out. I was like oh absolutely not with this noise. But then that video came out. I was hooked. End of story. And who doesn't like pretending to twerk to this song?

7. "Not On Drugs" - Tove Lo

My best friend would kill me if I didn't put a Tove Lo song on here. She literally has become a break out artist of 2014. I got to see her before "Habits"became a huge thing. Bby girl put on a show! I personally have never touched a drug, but I have been in love (questionable).

6. " West Coast" - Lana Del Rey

My sad lamenting queen followed up her "Paradise" EP with "Ultraviolence" with this song as the lead single. At first I was like okay this is cool, but wasn't in love. But after a few listens I was all about this song. Granted, I still don't know all the lyrics, but another of my besties and I would text each other basically the whole song to each other, so I can learn them one day!

5. "2 On" - Tinashe (feat. Schoolboy Q)

TINASHE. My god. This was her year. The lead single off her recent album Aquarius was my jam for so long. This song just brings out your inner hip hop dancer even though it shouldn't for me because its not pretty. I could do without Schoolboy because his part is quite vulgar, but WHAT. A . JAM.

4. "Do It Again" Royksopp and Robyn

Yes, we don't have a new Robyn album. But let's be real this partnership was still pretty great. "Do It Again" was obviously the summer dance jam of 2014. The video went way over my head, but this song is so perfect.

3. "Chandelier" - Sia

THE RETURN OF SIA!!!! After penning great songs like "Perfume", we finally got new music from one of pop's biggest treasures. "Chandelier" had that soaring chorus that still sends chills down my spine. And that video with little Maddie. YASSSSSS!

2. "Rollercoaster" - Bleachers

My favorite album this year hands down was from Bleachers. I absolutely LOVE this song. Jack Antonoff and his crew are musical geniuses. Seeing them perform this live was a treat and I can't wait to see it happen again in April. You cannot listen to this song and not want to do basically a Carlton dance. YOU CANNOT.

1. "G.U.Y." - Lady Gaga

Just because Bleachers was my absolute favorite artist of 2014, doesn't mean I would forget my queen. Obviously ARTPOP didn't appeal to most of you lesser lovers of music, but I have been on board ever since it's debut. And then she released GUY and the video for it. mY GOD WHAT AN ARTISTIC JOURNEY. Andy Cohen, Housewives, guns, wings, VENUS! In all honesty, this song was amazing and really smart. My mom hates it, which meant it would be my favorite.

Other VERY honorable mentions:

  • "Jealous (Remix)" - Nick Jonas (feat. Tinashe)
  • "Summer" - Calvin Harris
  • "Can't Stop Dancing" - Becky G
  • "Out of the Woods", "Style", and "Blank Space" - Taylor Swift
  • "Riptide" - Vance Joy
  • "Partition" and "Flawless Remix (feat. Nicki Minaj)" - Beyonce
  • "Dance Like You Got Credit" - Cazwell
  • "Shut Up and Dance" - Walk the Moon
  • "Break Free", "Love Me Harder", and "Problem" - Ariana Grande
  • "Break The Rules" and "Boom Clap" - Charli XCX

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO MY MOST BEAUTIFUL READERS!!

New Music: Fall Out Boys' "American Beauty/American Psycho"

Just when I was about to count Fall Out Boy out, they release the title track off their upcoming album: "American Beauty/American Psycho". That freaking chorus my god. This, "Centuries" and "The Kids Aren't Alright" are all songs off this upcoming album due out January 20th.

New Music: Marina and the Diamond's "Froot"!

After the unfortunate demise of Electra Heart (STILL NOT OVER IT) Marina has returned with a new single entitled "Froot"! And I am completely obsessed with it. The 6 minute "Froot" literally sounds like a space disco mixed with an old arcade game soundtrack. So come and fill your cup up, kids. Marina is back and I'm very here for this.

New Video: Sam Smith's "Restart"!

I absolutely LOVE Sam Smith. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the VEVO Lift show when he came to Chicago (SADLY HIS SHOW LAST WEEK WAS SOLD OUT AND IT WAS WITH BROODS ;___;). ANYWAY, "Restart" is one of my absolute favorites off his album "In The Lonely Hour" and he just released the video for it!

It's like a really cute look into Sam's life on the road in a very old Lana Del Rey music videos way. And that opening with "***FLAWLESS"? UGH YOU ARE FLAWLESS, SIR. Precious video.

Thoughts?

New Music: Fergie's "L.A. LOVE (la la)"!

After 8 years since "The Duchess", Fergie returns with her new single "L.A. LOVE (la la)". It's literally Fergie giving a shout out to every city around the world. I had such high hopes. But I don't despise it. I honestly don't even know what to say about this.

Thoughts??

New Song: One Direction's "Steal My Girl"!

It's no secret that I secretly love One Direction. When Up All Night came out, I was HOOKED. Now the boys are coming out with their fourth album titled "Four" (YASS BEYONCE HOMAGE). The boys released their lead single today called "Steal My Girl". It's a piano driven rock-pop song filled with a cute chorus and lots of "NA NA NA NA"'s. It's one of those songs you see preteens (and me) shouting at the top of their lungs. I don't want to say I'm absolutely in love with this, but I ain't mad at it.

New Video: Hilary Duff's "All About You"!

Hilary Duff has released the visual for her current single "All About You"! Now, I have been absolutely obsessed with this song since it dropped and have been pining for a video since her X-Factor performance! That cute ho-down choreography is so precious and luckily it is in the video. And the concept: take a picture of a hot guy with your Amazon Fire phone (YASSS PROMO) and pick up the item he drops and then go on a quest with your besties to find him (Literally sounds like my love life.). She is like a modern day Sherlock Holmes!

New Video: The Veronica's "You Ruin Me"!

In case you missed it, The Veronicas are back (again)! After the setbacks of the last album, the ladies are finally ready to release new music and I am very much ready. Their first single "You Ruin Me" is a little on the sadder side, but let me tell you, the song is beautiful (THAT CHORUS.)  And if you have a beautiful song, you have to have a beautiful video, right? Right.

The video gives us some Black Swan realness, as the duo become beautiful ballerinas/performers. I won't ruin the video for you, but that ending. #Feminism. But again, the visual is absolutely gorgeous and The Veronicas look absolutely stunning. I missed them so much!

P.S. if you listen at around 1:20 when the curtain rises, you can hear those violins. I honestly thought that was the "Jewels and Drugs" opening. The #ARTPOP impact is real y'all. (Jokes, don't hate me.)

New Video: Eden xo's "Too Cool To Dance"!

FRIENDS! We now have the official video for Eden xo's "Too Cool To Dance"! If you haven't heard the song yet, it is a total jam. No joke. Hella catchy and it'll make you want to dance, even if you think you're too cool (see what I did there? I'll stop sorry.) Baby girl is serving up some major choreo in cute Grease looking outfits along with having a great time with some interesting characters.

My only complaint? "Bitches" got turned into "snitches". But I'll live. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do!

New Video: Cazwell's "Dance Like You Got Good Credit"!

WHAT YOUR PIN CODE, DADDY?!

I'll admit it: I have a Cazwell obsession. I literally buy every single that comes out. And when Hard 2 B Fresh was announced for pre-order, I tried to hold out and be strong. But after seeing this video, I am OBSESSED. So of course I headed over to iTunes and pre-ordered my copy. And you know what? You get this song right away. YASSSSSS.

Now for the video. I LOVE IT! Cazwell of course looks ripped as fuck and I absolutely love Cherie's looks. AND THAT BIANCA CAMEO. AHHH! Couldn't have asked for more.

If this song is any indication of what the album is going to bring: my body is so ready.

New Video: Charli XCX's "Break the Rules"!

YASSSSSSSSS! Charli XCX just released the visual for her second single off Sucker called "Break the Rules"! Hopefully you checked out the audio last week and fell in love with it immediately like I did. The video has Charli serving some "Hit Me Baby One More Time" Britney school girl lewks and letting that bad girl out. But let's be real: the stomping and like crumping on top of the bus was my favorite. There is even a special cameo with Rose McGowan! Charli obvi drew inspiration from Rose's movie Jawbreaker. I like this movie inspiration trend happening now (a la "Black Widow").

I also love that this came out on the first day of my new teaching job.

New Video: Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda"!

LORD JESUS.
Ass.
 So. Much. Ass.

After many sexy teases, Nicki Minaj has just dropped the visual for her latest single "Anaconda". And of course it lived up to all of them. We get to see Nicki and a bevy of big booty ladies twerking in a jungle, hitting the gym, and CHAIR DANCING (my favorite) . But it doesn't stop there. The 5 minute clip also has a cooking session and then a lap dance feat. Drake. I am fanning myself and clutching my rosary, y'all. Say what you want about the song, but this video was a gem.

New Video: HAIM's "My Song 5"!

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE HAIM?! THIS VIDEO. THIS VIDEO IS THE BEST.

HAIM has just released the video for "My Song 5" which is my song favorite (okay, bad joke) off their album Days Are Gone. The whole thing is a talk show. Vanessa Bayer from SNL is the Sally Jesse Raphael look-a-like and I basically died everytime she showed up. YASSS. We also see cameos from Grimes, A$AP Ferg, and KE$HA! And like how amazing do the sisters look?

SLAY BABY HAIM.

New Video: Tove Lo's "Not On Drugs"!

If you're not on the Tove Lo train, you really should be. She just released the psychedelic video for "Not On Drugs" (my favorite btw) from her latest EP Truth Serum. But only that, Ms. Tove Lo also announced her debut album coming Sepetember 30th! It will be 3 parts: "The Sex", "The Love", and "The Pain".  AND, if that wasn't enough, she also announced a US tour this fall! You dang well know I'll be at the Metro October 4th.

If you wanna check out the track listing for Queen of the Clouds and to see tour dates, click here!

New Music: Charli XCX's "Break The Rules"!

Ever since "Boom Clap" and "Fancy", I've been so sad I've had to share my precious gem: Charli XCX. Her next album, titled Sucker, is coming in October! I am loving this song, obvi. The rebellious lyrics and more rock feel are making me so excited for this album and her concert!!

New Music and Video: Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off"!

Taylor Swift music and I have always had a love-hate relationship. I really enjoyed Red, but was never a fan of the smash "22". But now it seems Swifty had dropped the country act and joined in the feel good pop with her new single "Shake It Off". I am absolutely OBSESSED! Even the horn in the background is so good. I'm going to have this on repeat. If her new album, entitled 1989, is like this, I will probably join the dark side and become a huge Swifty fan.

New Video: Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora's "Black Widow"

One of my favorite songs of the moment is "Black Widow". When I first heard The New Classic, I knew it was going to be huge. So I'm actually really excited that the video for "Black Widow" is finally here! I absolutely LOVE the Kill Bill movies so of course I like screeched when I saw the video. Except, yikes to that acting in the beginning...This tumblr post had me cackling so hard tho.

New Music: Jessie Ware's "Say You Love Me"!

My girl Jessie Ware and Ed Sheeran have teamed up to bring us "Say You Love Me". "SYLM" will be the second single off Jessie's upcoming album, Tough Love. I'm not going to lie, I actually used to be an Ed fan when his "+" album came out. Nowadays though, not so much. BUT, I do appreciate his talent. He is a brilliant song writer. And this song is no exception. The song starts off pretty slow, but I absolutely love it. The second half really builds into something powerful. Cannot wait for this album!

New Music and Video: Ariana Grande's "Break Free" and "Best Mistake"!

Ariana Grande has released the visual for her latest single "Break Free". If you know me, you know I am stanning for this song like no other. Zedd can do no wrong. This video on the other hand...yikes. Like it's cute and whatnot, but blehhhhh. No thank you weird alien theme. But how adorable was Zedd in his little blue space suit?! Precious.

And in case you missed it, the latest promo single from her upcoming album "Best Mistake" dropped too. I really like this chilly ballad. Can I do without Big Sean? Of course. But I ain't mad at this. Check it out below!

New Video: Robyn and Röyksopp's "Monument"!

Okay, I'm all about the art and the pop and reverse warholian experiences, but WHAT???? These past two videos from Robyn and Röyksopp's EP have been way over my head with all the hidden meaning. Oy. It was still really pretty though.

New Music: Neon Hitch's "Yard Sale"!

I know, I'm a little late with posting this. But in case you missed it, Neon Hitch released a new single entitled "Yard Sale"! Can we talk about how much I love this #GypsyPirateCelticPop sounding jam? Between this and the recently broken up Danity Kane single "Lemonade", I have my Summer jams for 2014.

New Music: Hilary Duff's "All About You"!

In case you didn't know, Hilary Duff is coming back with a new album. The first offering "Chasing the Sun" was kind of a let down, but "All About You" is pretty awesome. I actually really enjoy this Lumineer's vibed song. I mean theres clapping and packs a very chant-back chorus (two of my favorite things.) I can dig it.

New Video: Lana Del Rey's "West Coast",

Well, it's here. Lana's video for "West Coast". Let's be real: love the song, love her, but not really feeling the video. I mean it's got the obvious Lana elements: vintage feel, twirling, and "daddies". But like what was that whole fire sequence at the end??? Eh. STILL STOKED FOR ULTRAVIOLENCE AND HER SHOW IN LIKE 8 DAYS!!!

And if that wasn't enough, Lana has also released the tracklist for her upcoming album Ultraviolence!!

ULTRAVIOLENCE TRACKLISTING:
CRUEL WORLD
ULTRAVIOLENCE
SHADES OF COOL
BROOKLYN BABY
WEST COAST
SAD GIRL
PRETTY WHEN YOU CRY

New Video: Shakira's "Dare (La La La)"!

Shaki has been quite busy since the release of her self titled. There is of course The Voice, but she has also been churning out videos left and right! The latest is for "Dare (La La La)" which is one of my favorites off the album. There is an English and Spanish version of the video (the latter is the superior obvi). And fun fact: this song is part of the Brasil 2014 World Cup soundtrack. YASSSS.

Thoughts?

New Video: Sia's "Chandelier"!

As I sat and pondered how Sia came to find out who Mack Z was, I now know thanks to this video. As a huge fan of Dance Moms, this was quite the surprise! Maddie straight up KILLED it with choreography here. She is like only 11. Great performance.

New Music: Röyksopp & Robyn - "Do It Again"!

YOUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED Y'ALL! Robyn is back! With help from friends Röyksopp, we have a new single (and title track) from their new EP Do It Again! The flashy beats make this an instant favorite. I am SO excited for the rest of the EP to drop later this May.

Thoughts???

You can Pre-Order Do It Again and get the title track on iTunes now!

New Music: Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea - "Problem"!

This is definitely going to be a summer jam y'all. Kudos to both ladies!

Thoughts?

You can get "Problem" on iTunes!

New Music: Lana Del Rey's "West Coast"!

FINALLY.

Crooner queen, Lana Del Rey Slay, has dropped her first single from her next album Ultraviolence. It's titled "West Coast" and it's quite strange. But a good strange. It makes you feel like you should be buzzed and twirling around a beach (much like the video.) I can't tell how into it I am, but I'm on my third listen and getting there. It's just such a different sound from BTD or Paradise.  Let's hope we get a release date for Ultraviolence soon or that she straight up pulls a Beyonce like now.

And does anyone else want to say "Ooh baby ooh say ooh" during "ooh baby ooh I'm in love"? Very Stevie.

New Music: Frankmusik's "These Streets"!

You guys know my obsession with Frankmusik. This song was seriously the best way to end the night. I hope you guys enjoy the soft dance record as much as I do. Definitely going to keep this on repeat tomorrow.

New Video: Lady Gaga's "G.U.Y."!

OMFG YASSSS!!! THE HAIR. THE OUTFITS. THE CHOREO. SWEET GODDESS.

Was not here for those BRAVO cameos though. Bleh. Other than that, I AM COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY SLAYED AND CANNOT FUNCTION FOR THE REST OF THE WEEKEND BYE.

New Video: HAIM's "If I Could Change Your Mind"!

My precious little angels from HAIM have released a new video for their latest single "If I Could Change Your Mind"! The video is a pretty cute 80's themed visual with some really cute choreo. WERK. Cannot wait to see them in May!

Iggy Azalea Announces New Tour and Reveals Album Art!

One of my favorite artists, Iggy Azalea, has released the album artwork for her upcoming album, The New Classic. She also released a slew of new US dates and thankfully there is one here in Chicago! I'm so excited for all this new stuff. It's about damn time she gets her time to shine. Check out the album art and dates below!

You Me At Six Announce US Tour!

You Me At Six have announced their new tour for Cavalier Youth! You dang well know I'll be there May 13th.

New Music: Shakira's "Empire"!

New promo track from Shakira's upcoming self titled album! Not mad at it tbh. It feels like a soundtrack song or something that could play during the credits of a movie.
